fold

36 keys. 18.4 mm thin. Two halves that come to your hands instead of the other way around.

A columnar-staggered layout puts each finger over a column of keys rather than a diagonal row. Your shoulders stay open, your wrists stay straight, and your thumbs finally do more than hit one long bar.

  • Hot-swap · no soldering
  • Wireless in both halves · 6 weeks per charge
  • ZMK firmware · keymap in your browser

Why split

Three things change in the first week.

01

Shoulders open

The halves sit shoulder-width apart, so your arms stop angling inwards towards a single slab of keys.

02

Wrists stay neutral

Columnar stagger follows finger length. The pinky column drops away instead of reaching up and inward.

03

Thumbs earn their keep

Space, enter, backspace and a layer key sit under the strongest digit you have, instead of one long bar under the weakest.

Questions

About fold in particular

36 keys sounds extreme. Where did the rest go?

Numbers, arrows and function keys live on two layers held by your thumbs. Nothing is more than one key away, and nothing requires moving a hand. The first week feels slow; by the third it feels like the other keyboards were wasting your hands.

Will it fit in a laptop bag?

Each half is smaller than a paperback and 18.4 mm at its thickest. The pair stacks into the inside pocket of most 14-inch laptop sleeves.

Can I use one half on its own?

Yes. Either half works alone over Bluetooth — useful for travel, or for pairing one half to a tablet while the other stays with your desktop.

What if I don't get on with it?

30 days to send it back, in any condition, for a full refund. We'd rather have the board back than have you keep something your hands argue with.
